I’ve been doing a lot of travel around Ontario lately. It’s been great. And it’s been other adjectives too: beautiful, hot, humbling, awe-inspiring to name a few. During my time away from home, I have found myself with a persistent ear worm – The Bare Necessities from Disney’s The Jungle Book. Maybe that’s because it’s upbeat, and a good song for walking along (can’t you just imagine me sing-stepping through the touristy crowds with this song in my head?). But maybe also because it reminds me that wherever I wander, wherever I roam, I have the bare necessities of life right at home. Thank you, Mowgli and Baloo for these profound words.
Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature’s recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life
Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn’t be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin’ in the trees
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at them fancy ants
And then maybe, well, try a few
The bare necessities of life will come to you
